friEdTech’s Newsela Partnership

In August of 2019, the friEdTech team entered into a partnership with Newsela, one of our favorite EdTech companies. Newsela has a single goal: Meaningful classroom learning for every student. Like friEdTech, they strive to provide engaging, relevant instructional content for teachers that both educates and inspires. With nearly two million teachers signed up, Newsela is helping kids improve their reading skills in all 50 states and more than 150 countries. 

Our friEdTech Learning Guides are also Certified Newsela Educators who lead professional development sessions for teachers all over the country. It’s our hope to bring Newsela’s awesome product into every school district we have the privilege to work with.  

One of the things we have been excited to do is work with districts that have recently adopted Newsela into their district toolkits.  Our Learning Guides take participants through a tour of the platform and provide opportunities for hands-on practice using the tools the same way teachers would use them in the classroom.

Now that school is underway, don’t forget to utilize your school’s Newsela resources! Recent updates include primary sources, collections, news articles, and even state-aligned curriculum. Many district licenses include free professional development, so be sure you reach out to your Newsela representative to ask about it.
